Frequently Asked Quesions

What can I expect in the first session?

We offer a free 20-minute phone consultation before your first appointment, and intake paperwork is completed electronically ahead of time. In your first session, your therapist will cover confidentiality, complete an intake interview, and begin setting goals together. Individual intakes run about 60 minutes; couples start with two 90-minute sessions. There's no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel like the right fit.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If something in your life feels heavier than you'd like, or you're noticing patterns you'd like to change, therapy can help, even if you can't fully name what's wrong yet. You don't need to have it figured out before you start. That's part of what the process is for.

What's your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments are billed at the full session rate, with exceptions for genuine emergencies or illness.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We use evidence-based approaches including EMDR, EFT, Gottman Method, and IFS-informed techniques, tailored to each client's needs. Learn more about what these involve on the Our Approach page.

What happens if there's a crisis between sessions?

We are not a crisis clinic, and clinicians are generally not available outside of scheduled sessions, though we'll return messages during business hours. For a medical emergency, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988, available 24/7.

How do I know if a therapist is a good fit?

Fit matters as much as technique. You should feel safe being honest, feel heard rather than just diagnosed, and sense genuine curiosity from your therapist. If something feels off after a session or two, it's okay to say so, or to look elsewhere.
